ANM/GNM Round 2 Expected Cut-Off 2026: Government College GMR Prediction, Category-Wise Chances & Result Date

The WB ANM(R) & GNM 2026 Round 2 seat allotment result is scheduled for tomorrow, 26 August 2026. With Round 2 registration and choice filling now complete, the biggest question among candidates is:
“Round 2 cut-off koto jete pare?”
WBJEEB has not released any official Round 2 cut-off yet. The final Opening Rank–Closing Rank (OR-CR) can be known only after the Round 2 allotment is published.
However, we can make a useful expected Round 2 GMR range by studying:
official 2026 Round 1 OR-CR; government-college closing ranks; previous round-to-round movement; Round 1 non-reporting and seat cancellation; YES Upgradation; Round 2 fresh registrations/choices; category-wise vacancies; institute preference.
The official 2026 OR-CR portal currently contains Round 1 data only, while WBJEEB's live page still shows the Round 2 counselling activity.
Important: Every Round 2 figure in the “Expected” tables below is an editorial estimate, not an official WBJEEB cut-off. Do not treat an expected range as a guaranteed seat.

These dates are given in WBJEEB's official ANM/GNM e-counselling schedule.
Will Round 2 Cut-Off Increase?
In rank-based counselling, when candidates say the cut-off may “increase,” they generally mean the Closing Rank may move to a numerically higher GMR.
For example:
Round 1 Closing Rank: 2,500
If Round 2 closes at:
2,900
then the closing rank has moved by:
400 ranks.
This can allow candidates with slightly higher numerical GMRs to receive seats.
But there is no fixed rule that every college must move by 200, 500 or 1,000 ranks.
Why Can the Round 2 Closing Rank Move?
Several types of seats can become available after Round 1.
Candidates may:
fail to pay the seat-acceptance fee; not report for document verification; fail eligibility/document verification; take admission elsewhere; withdraw; move to a higher preference through upgradation.
In addition, eligible candidates were permitted to participate through Round 2 registration/fresh choices under the counselling rules. WBJEEB specifically allows fresh Round 2 choices for categories including fresh Round 2 registrants, candidates with no Round 1 seat, certain non-responsive candidates and candidates whose Round 1 allotment was cancelled during verification.
All of these movements can change the Round 2 OR-CR.
Historical Evidence: How Much Can Cut-Off Move?
Past official OR-CR data show why a moderate movement is possible—but also why no single formula works.
For example, in the previous counselling cycle:
Medical College Kolkata GNM — Open
Round 1 Closing Rank:
875
Round 2 Closing Rank:
1,002
Movement:
+127 ranks NTS Howrah District Hospital GNM — Open
Round 1 Closing Rank:
2,676
Round 2 Closing Rank:
3,135
Movement:
+459 ranks Vidyasagar S.G. Hospital ANM — Open
Round 1 Closing Rank:
350
Round 2 Closing Rank:
416
Movement:
+66 ranks
The same historical official OR-CR data also show much larger or smaller movements in some reserved categories, because one or two vacancies can significantly change a category closing rank.
Therefore, a practical expectation for many popular government colleges is moderate movement, not a universal massive jump.
GNM 2026 Round 2 Expected Cut-Off — Government Colleges
Below we use the 2026 Round 1 Open-category closing ranks as the official baseline and provide a cautious expected Round 2 range.
Expected Open / UR GMR Government GNM Institute 2026 Round 1 CR Expected Round 2 CR Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata 1,147 1,200–1,350 NRS Medical College 1,363 1,430–1,650 Murshidabad Medical College 1,544 1,600–1,900 Medinipur Medical College 1,770 1,850–2,150 Barasat Medical College 2,500 2,600–3,050 District Hospital Balurghat 2,531 2,650–3,050 North Bengal Medical College 2,631 2,750–3,200 JNM Hospital, Nadia 2,651 2,750–3,200 Lady Dufferin Victoria Hospital 2,922 3,000–3,450 Howrah District Hospital 3,182 3,300–3,750 District Hospital Chinsurah 3,417 3,550–4,050 Naihati/Basirhat Health District Hospital 3,709 3,850–4,400 ESI Hospital 3,896 4,000–4,550 District Hospital Darjeeling 3,949 4,050–4,600
These Round 2 figures are predictions, not official cut-offs.
The official 2026 Round 1 OR-CR confirms, among other figures, Medical College Kolkata Open CR 1,147, NRS 1,363, Medinipur 1,770, Barasat 2,500, North Bengal 2,631, Lady Dufferin 2,922, Howrah 3,182, Chinsurah 3,417 and ESI 3,896.
Most Important Point About These Predictions
Suppose Medical College Kolkata has only one Open vacancy after Round 1.
Its cut-off may move only a few ranks.
But if several candidates upgrade or do not join, the movement could be larger.
Meanwhile, another less-preferred district government institute could see much more movement.
Therefore:
Round 2 movement is vacancy-driven, not percentage-driven.
The ranges above are best used as chance zones, not promises.
Government GNM Expected Chance by Open GMR
A simple broad prediction for candidates competing for Open-category government GNM seats is:
GMR Round 2 Government GNM Outlook Up to 1,500 Very strong position for several govt choices 1,501–2,500 Strong 2,501–3,200 Good / competitive 3,201–3,800 Realistic for wider govt list 3,801–4,500 Borderline; college list matters greatly 4,501–5,000 Difficult but not automatically impossible Above 5,000 Open govt seat becomes increasingly uncertain; category/location/seat movement matter
Again, this is an analytical chance band, not a WBJEEB cut-off table.
A GMR 3,600 candidate who selected 30 suitable government institutes can be in a better practical position than a GMR 3,200 candidate who selected only three highly demanded Kolkata institutes.
Medical College Kolkata GNM Expected Cut-Off
This is one of the most searched colleges.
Official Round 1 2026:
Open
CR — 1,147
OBC
CR — 1,287
SC
CR — 2,431
EWS
CR — 3,775
ST
CR — 11,676.
Expected Round 2
A cautious expectation would be:
Category Round 1 CR Expected Round 2 Zone Open 1,147 1,200–1,350 OBC 1,287 1,350–1,550 SC 2,431 2,550–3,000 EWS 3,775 4,000–5,000 ST 11,676 12,000–14,000+
Reserved-category predictions are much less stable because a very small number of available seats can cause unusually large or very small movement.
NRS Medical College GNM Expected Cut-Off
Official 2026 Round 1:
Open — 1,363 OBC — 1,470 SC — 2,900 EWS — 4,208.
Expected Round 2:
Open:
1,430–1,650
OBC:
1,550–1,800
SC:
3,000–3,500
EWS:
4,400–5,500
These are estimates only.
Barasat Medical College GNM Expected Cut-Off
Round 1 official closing ranks include:
Open — 2,500 OBC — 2,886 SC — 4,936 EWS — 9,187.
A reasonable Round 2 expectation is:
Category Expected Round 2 CR Open 2,600–3,050 OBC 3,000–3,450 SC 5,100–5,900 EWS 9,500–11,000
A candidate slightly outside the Round 1 closing rank should therefore not assume there is no chance.
Howrah District Hospital GNM Expected Cut-Off
Official Round 1:
Open — 3,182 OBC — 3,346 SC — 6,372 EWS — 10,804 ST — 16,360.
Expected Round 2:
Category Expected CR Open 3,300–3,750 OBC 3,500–4,000 SC 6,500–7,300 EWS 11,000–13,000 ST 16,500–19,000
The previous-cycle official data also showed Howrah Open moving from 2,676 in Round 1 to 3,135 in Round 2, illustrating that a few hundred ranks of movement is possible in a district-government nursing school.
North Bengal Medical College GNM
Official Round 1 Open closing rank:
2,631
SC:
4,190
ST:
12,425.
Expected Round 2 Open:
2,750–3,200
SC could move approximately into the:
4,300–5,000
zone depending on vacancies.
ST can fluctuate substantially and should be judged from the actual category vacancy rather than a fixed prediction.
Lady Dufferin GNM
Official Round 1:
Open — 2,922 OBC — 3,219 SC — 5,390 EWS — 10,771 ST — 19,062.
Expected Open Round 2:
3,000–3,450
Expected OBC:
3,300–3,750
Expected SC:
5,500–6,300
Again, the exact availability after Round 1 determines the final cut-off.
ANM Round 2 Expected Cut-Off 2026
ANM needs separate analysis from GNM.
Do not compare:
ANM GMR with GNM closing ranks.
ANM is also available only to female candidates, according to WBJEEB's counselling eligibility rules.
Important ANM Government Round 1 Closing Ranks
Some major official 2026 Round 1 Open closing ranks are:
ANM Institute Round 1 Open CR Murshidabad Govt. MCH 142 Barasat MCH 326 Promotees Training School 397 North Bengal MCH 432 Vidyasagar S.G. Hospital 433 ID&BG Hospital 518
These are official Round 1 figures from WBJEEB's 2026 OR-CR portal.
ANM Open Category Expected Round 2
A cautious projection is:
Government ANM Institute R1 CR Expected R2 CR Murshidabad Govt. MCH 142 150–220 Barasat MCH 326 340–420 Promotees Training School 397 410–500 North Bengal MCH 432 450–540 Vidyasagar S.G. Hospital 433 450–530 ID&BG Hospital 518 540–650
These predictions assume at least some normal Round 1-to-Round 2 movement. If no Open seat becomes vacant at a particular institution, there may be no meaningful movement at all.
Overall ANM Open GMR Chance ANM GMR Expected Round 2 Govt Outlook Up to 300 Strong 301–450 Good / competitive 451–550 Realistic depending on institute 551–650 Borderline 651–800 Uncertain; depends strongly on vacancies and full preference list Above 800 Open govt ANM becomes difficult, but category-specific chances can differ
This table should not be confused with a category-wise official cut-off.
Reserved Categories Can Move Very Differently
This is important for SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates.
Consider the 2026 Round 1 figures.
For Medical College Kolkata GNM:
Open CR — 1,147 OBC — 1,287 SC — 2,431 EWS — 3,775 ST — 11,676.
For Howrah GNM:
Open — 3,182 OBC — 3,346 SC — 6,372 EWS — 10,804 ST — 16,360.
The category rank ranges are clearly not uniform.
Therefore, an article claiming:
“SC Round 2 cut-off will be exactly 7,000”
for all colleges would be misleading.
Each college + course + category has its own OR-CR.
OBC Candidates: Important 2026 Rule
WBJEEB states that OBC candidates claiming reservation must satisfy the applicable Non-Creamy Layer requirements and produce an updated NCL certificate during counselling/admission.
The counselling notification also states that reserved seats are not de-reserved and converted to Open seats during the counselling rounds.
This is another reason why Open-category and reserved-category cut-off movement can behave very differently.
GMR or Category Rank — Which One Should You Check?
For counselling prediction, candidates should focus primarily on the GMR used in the official OR-CR tables.
The official counselling notification requires candidates to possess a valid General Merit Rank (GMR) and explains that counselling/allotment proceeds through merit rank and submitted choices.
So do not say:
“My OBC rank is 700, so I must get the same college where CR is 700.”
Compare your relevant GMR and category eligibility with the official college/category OR-CR.
Why Some Candidates With Better Rank Got No Seat in Round 1
A very common question is:
“My friend's rank is worse than mine, but she got a seat. Why didn't I?”
Because allotment does not depend on GMR alone.
It also depends on:
choices selected; choice order; course eligibility; gender; category; available seat; institute eligibility.
WBJEEB explicitly advises candidates to select the maximum possible number of suitable institutes/branches and says this increases the chance of allotment; it advises at least 20 choices.
A candidate who selected only 5 famous Kolkata colleges can therefore receive no seat even when another candidate with a numerically higher GMR gets a district-government college.
No Seat in Round 1 — Is Round 2 a Big Chance?
It can be a meaningful chance, particularly when:
Your rank is close to the Round 1 CR
Example:
College Round 1 CR:
3,182
Your GMR:
3,350
Difference:
168 ranks.
That is a realistic Round 2 position if a vacancy opens.
By contrast:
Round 1 CR:
1,147
Your GMR:
5,000
It would be unrealistic to call that college a “safe Round 2 chance.”
A Simple Way to Judge Your Own Rank
Take the official Round 1 closing rank and calculate the gap.
Gap within about 5% Strong Round 2 possibility
Example:
CR 3,000 Your rank 3,120.
About 5–15% beyond Round 1 CR Competitive / realistic
Example:
CR 3,000 Your rank 3,300.
About 15–25% beyond CR Borderline
Depends heavily on vacancy movement.
More than 25–30% beyond CR Do not depend on that college alone.
Keep wider options.
This is only a planning model, not a WBJEEB formula.
Do Not Expect the Same Movement Everywhere
Popular colleges such as:
Medical College Kolkata; NRS; major Kolkata government institutes
may move less because candidates receiving them often retain them.
District institutes can sometimes move more because:
candidates upgrade; candidates prefer another location; candidates do not report; hostel/travel considerations affect acceptance.
But even this is not guaranteed every year.
Could Round 2 Government GNM Go Beyond 4,000 Open GMR? Yes, it is possible at some institutes.
The 2026 Round 1 itself already reached Open closing ranks such as:
ESI — 3,896 District Hospital Darjeeling — 3,949
and other government/eligible institutes can have their own different ranges.
Therefore an Open GMR around:
4,000–4,500
should not automatically abandon Round 2.
But the candidate needs:
broad choices; district flexibility; realistic institutes.
For the most demanded Kolkata government colleges, that same rank would generally be much less competitive.
GMR 5,000+ — Is Government GNM Impossible?
Do not use the word impossible before allotment.
But for Open-category government GNM, based on current Round 1 data, the probability becomes significantly weaker as the rank moves farther beyond the existing government closing ranks.
Reserved-category candidates must compare with their own category's OR-CR.
For example, SC/ST/EWS closing ranks can be substantially higher than Open in many institutes.
Can Private GNM Cut-Off Move Much More?
Yes.
Private and self-financing nursing institutes frequently show much wider OR-CR ranges because candidate preference and fees have a stronger impact.
For example, official 2026 Round 1 data show Open closing ranks such as:
Ruby General Hospital — 36,972 CMRI — 47,865 Budge Budge Institute of Nursing — 57,200 Sister Nivedita University School of Nursing — 65,508 Zenith Institute of Nursing Sciences — 71,544.
Therefore:
Government and private GNM cut-offs should never be mixed in one prediction.
A GMR that is weak for government GNM may still have substantial options among self-financing institutions.
Why Round 2 May Not Move as Much as Students Expect
There is another side to the prediction.
Round 2 is not only about vacancies opening.
Newly eligible/freshly registered candidates can also compete for seats.
Candidates who received no Round 1 allotment were allowed to fill fresh Round 2 choices, as were other eligible groups defined by WBJEEB.
So while seats become vacant:
competition also continues.
That is why predicting “huge cut-off movement” simply because it is Round 2 is risky.
YES Upgradation Also Drives the Cut-Off Chain
Suppose:
Candidate A has College D and selects YES.
In Round 2, Candidate A gets College B.
College D becomes available.
Then Candidate B may receive College D, freeing another seat.
This creates a chain of seat movement.
That is why Round 2 can sometimes produce movement across several institutions even without a large number of completely vacant seats.
WBJEEB's rules allow candidates allotted a second/later preference to continue through YES Upgradation according to the notified procedure.
What Happens After Round 2 Result?
Round 2 allotment is scheduled for:
26 August 2026
and fresh allottees must complete applicable:
seat acceptance; reporting; document verification; admission
from:
26–29 August 2026.
Candidates should not spend the entire result day only discussing the cut-off.
If you get a seat, check immediately whether:
it is first choice; it is second/later choice; YES/NO Upgradation applies; reporting is required; your documents are ready. No Seat in Round 2? Round 3 Is Still Available
Candidates receiving no Round 2 seat are automatically eligible for the next round with their existing choices and may also have the fresh-choice option under the rules.
Round 3 is scheduled as:
Registration & Choice Filling
31 August–1 September
Result
3 September
Reporting
3–6 September.
WBJEEB states that Round 3 is the final centralized counselling round.
Round 3 Could Move More — But Do Not Depend on It
Round 3 will operate against vacancies left after Round 2.
Therefore some institutes/categories may show additional closing-rank movement.
But:
fewer seats can remain; seat availability becomes unpredictable; one category may have seats while another has none.
So the strategy should not be:
“I will skip Round 2 because Round 3 cut-off will definitely go higher.”
There is no such guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions Is ANM/GNM Round 2 official cut-off released?
No.
As of 25 August 2026, WBJEEB's official 2026 OR-CR portal contains Round 1 data, while Round 2 allotment is scheduled for August 26.
When will Round 2 cut-off be known?
After WBJEEB publishes the:
Round 2 Seat Allotment Result on 26 August 2026
and updates the official OR-CR information.
Will Round 2 closing rank definitely increase?
Not necessarily for every institute/category.
It depends on actual vacancies and candidate movement.
Some colleges may move substantially, some only slightly, and some categories may show no new allotment.
What is the expected Open cut-off for Medical College Kolkata GNM?
Official Round 1 CR is:
1,147
Our cautious Round 2 prediction is approximately:
1,200–1,350
if sufficient Open seats become available.
This is not official.
What is the expected Barasat GNM Open cut-off?
Round 1 closed at:
2,500
A reasonable Round 2 estimate is:
2,600–3,050. What is the expected Howrah GNM cut-off?
Open Round 1 CR:
3,182
Expected Round 2:
3,300–3,750. What is the expected ANM government Open cut-off?
There is no single ANM cut-off because each institute is separate.
Current Round 1 Open CRs include:
Murshidabad MCH — 142 Barasat — 326 Promotees — 397 North Bengal — 432 Vidyasagar — 433 ID&BG — 518.
Many Round 2 Open government ANM opportunities are therefore likely to remain concentrated roughly within the first several hundred GMRs, depending on vacancies.
My GMR is just 100–200 ranks above Round 1 CR. Do I have a chance?
That is generally a reasonable Round 2 position, especially if you filled that college and several alternatives.
But it is still not guaranteed because a vacancy must actually exist.
My GMR is 1,000 ranks above the Round 1 CR. Can I get that college?
It depends on the college and starting CR.
A movement from 15,000 to 16,000 is proportionally much smaller than a movement from 1,000 to 2,000.
Do not judge only from the absolute rank difference.
Should I check category rank or GMR?
Use the official GMR-based OR-CR along with your valid reservation category.
Does a wider choice list increase the chance?
Yes. WBJEEB explicitly advises candidates to select the maximum possible number of suitable choices and recommends at least 20 choices.
Final Prediction
The most realistic expectation for ANM/GNM Round 2 2026 is:
Moderate closing-rank movement at many government institutes — not a universal huge jump.
For popular Kolkata government GNM institutes, a movement of roughly 5–20% beyond the Round 1 Open closing rank can be used only as a planning band.
For district government institutes, larger movement is possible depending on vacancies.
For reserved categories, the movement can be much more irregular because a very small number of category seats can completely change the OR-CR.
For private GNM colleges, the rank ranges are dramatically wider and should be analysed separately.
The most important advice is:
Do not compare your GMR with one “overall government cut-off.”
Instead compare:
Your Course Your GMR Your Category Your Gender Eligibility Each College's Round 1 CR Your Choice List.
The final answer arrives tomorrow:
ANM/GNM ROUND 2 RESULT — 26 AUGUST 2026.
Once WBJEEB releases Round 2, the official Round 2 OR-CR will replace all expected-cut-off calculations.
Disclaimer: All predicted Round 2 ranges in this article are analytical estimates based on official 2026 Round 1 OR-CR and historical round-to-round movement. They are not issued or endorsed by WBJEEB and do not guarantee allotment.
